The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (K.N.U.S.T), has been shut down as a result of demonstration caused by the students. the demonstration was peaceful in the beginning but later turned into a violent one. students started mounting roadblocks, burning of car tires on the road and in campus destroying a lot of school property.
The Vice Chancellor took a decision to change one of the male halls to a mix hall which was in in favor of most of the student on campus. Most of the students are calling on the Vice Chancellor to be Sacked because of his wrong decision made.
This Incidence was beyond the police control so Soldiers was sent in to quench the wildfire on campus as millions of cedis properties were been destroyed.
Footage made by TodaysGhana.com indicates that, the students destroyed cars and other vehicles that belongs to the school staff and people passing by.
According to reports made by myjoyonline.com, the school has been closed down indefinitely, and the authorities has made it clear that it will remain closed down until further notice, after reaching agreement with the Ashanti Regional Security Council.
According to the Kwam Kwame Yeboah who is the University Relation Officer has Disclosed to Us that, the University Authorities were peacefully waiting for the students to write a petition to them but it turned down to their expectation, and all they they saw was Property destruction and all sort of unexpected things that students were doing everywhere.
Students are therefore expected to leave the campus from now till 12 PM tomorrow as Curfew is mounted in the school from 6 PM to 6 AM each day.
