Ebony was Vilified for her sexuality – Bisi Adjapon

Ghanaian Novelist Bisi Adjapon has made allegations regarding the treatment of women in in the country. He said there are some things men do and they are not noticed and criticized as expected but when women does same things then the whole society descends their anger on them as if they have never seen it before.

According to Bisi Adjapon, She will always regret that the late dancehall diva Ebony Reigns was Vilified for her sexuality when male artist could do same thing and go scot free without much criticism as compare to women.

Madam Bisi Adjapon made this statement when she was given the chance to speak on stage at “Catch Up”, a program organised by Accra International Book Festival on Thursday.

The late Ebony Reigns was criticized on social media and some media houses because of her style of dressing which they described as inappropriate in the Ghanaian society.

Her core critics claimed she was giving an unhealthy lifestyle to the girls in their youthful age through her style of dressing, and this also tarnished her image in someway.

Bisi Adjapon revealed Ebony Reigns was Vilified for her sexuality and she claimed the male celebrities are free from. But i don’t think male celebrities shows nudity like the female celebrities.

She said
“When a woman is seen driving a car or has some money she is seen to have a sponsor behind bars unless she is having a profession that can earn her those possessions. She added that the country has a long way to go as far as the rights of women is concerned”

“For me being a feminist, meaning i can decide to cook or not, i can decide to wear hijab or not, i can decide to work in the home or not to work in the home”, its about having a choice, having a voice. she added.

In conclusion she encouraged all Ghanaian to be feminists to help improve the lives of women in the country and the world as whole. “i am a feminist and every one should be one” she added.
